Oh, one more thing - I updated my top 100. And as a special treat - here is the cover art. Look who's back!

Had a pretty interesting weekend. Lisa and I drove up to Fundy Park to go kayaking. On our way there, we got mixed up in what I can only describe as some sort of parade. The parade comprised of a giant sneaker, 2 motorbikes, a couple of horses, a bagpiper, and a surly looking teenaged girl with a frumpy Roots sweater, who was apparently '2nd Princess', as was apparent by the sash she wore . . . over the Roots sweater. I nearly pissed myself laughing.

When we finally got to the Park, we went to Bennett Lake and paid our $5. You really can't beat the price. We paid $100 last week to be in a double kayak, and had to rush around with people we didn't know. At Bennett Lake, you pay $5, have your own kayak, can take your sweet ass time, and you don't have to fuss about with those dorky little skirts. I guess the only major difference is that you are on the Ocean, and the equipment is much better, when you pay for it. But for an amateur, you don't really need that much.

After kayaking, we decided to go to Adair's Wilderness Lodge. If you don't know, Adair's a Lodge/Restaurant about 30 minutes along a dirt road half way inbetween Sussex and the Fundy entrance. By dirt road, I mean huge boulders sticking up, giantonormous potholes, and dead trees along the road. They are intended for ATV's and Ski-do's, but they are certainly wide enough for 2 cars to pass by (with caution). Anyway, after our meal, we ended up taking the WRONG road back to Fundy, and ended up driving an hour on an old logging road, in the middle of B.F. Nowhere (although we belted out the soundrack to Les Miserable during the venture, which made it somewhat more tolerable). We kept driving and driving, and there was NO signs of life. Really, how much forest does New Brunswick have? Well, I have a more accurate estimate of that now. At 7:00pm, and on a half tank of gas, we finally gave in to the notion that we were lost, and turned around, drove another 45 minutes, and finally got out the way we came. All's well, but I must say I was a little frightened for a while. We came out of the forest with a fine coat of dust and dirt all over ever-y-thing.

Oh, also, I am a rockstar, and managed to get tickets for the SARS Concert in Toronto, about 1.52 seconds after they went on sale. Actually, I have FOUR tickets, so, if any of you want to go to Toronto with me, let me know! Actually, I feel like I should be more excited about this concert. But the only people I'm interested in seeing are the Flaming Lips, though I'm sure the others will be neat, too. I think I'm just a little apphrensive about the huge amount of (intoxicated, mostly) people that will be there. Seems like a perfect setting for a riot, don't you think? I'm actually just more excited to see my 'upper Canadian' friends, and to party with some familiar people. Anyway, I'm just a frightened little baby, but I'm sure it'll be rockin'!

One last (a propos) thing. Quills was on Showcase Saturday night. It is sort of about Marquis de Sade, which I hope most of you know is where the term 'Sadism' came from. Anyway, despite any pre-conceived notions of it being entirely about S & M, I would suggest that you watch this flick. It's less about sex than it is about the power of literature, and more importantly, the power of writing. I am absolutely certain the Marquis would have a blog, and post to it regularly.

And that was my weekend.

Woopeedoo - Blogger.com redesigned the site, so it should be more user friendly, or efficient, or something. I'm really only blogging right now because I want to distract myself from scratching at the tens of thousands of bug bites on my left foot. Great, I probably have the West Nile, now. *cough*

What a weekend! As most of you know, I went kayaking with my father on Saturday. It was great! My only real complaints were that the group we were with seemed to think that this was some sort of extreme kayak race, and booted'er everywhere we went (so it ended up that the 4 hour tour was only 3, silly, eh?), also, our 'guides' were not guides, but rather a couple of university kids who were there to make sure no one fell in. My father and I were under the impression that this was supposed to be, uhm, fun, and took our time to look at the amazing scenery, and to take some pictures. And instead of asking the guides, I just kept asking Dad "What's that? Where do that go? What's on the other side of that?" But all in all, it was great, but we both concluded that it would be a lot better if we did it on our own. Oh, I also wisely invested $17.00 on a waterproof disposable camera, and I'll post some pictures whenever I finish the film - for the ladies in the house, there was a beach-blond hunky (though dumb as a bag o' hammers) guide, which I was sure to take a picture of. Stay tuned!

Recently, I found VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the Last 25 Years. Since I had some time on my hands, I decided to download and burn the whole enchilada. Obviously, I disagree with many of their choices, and I've been wanting to do this for a while, so I've decided to make my own Favourite 100. This is just a rough list, but I'd be interested to know if you guys have any suggestions on anything I missed out (because I know I did!), or if you disagree with anything (keep in mind, it's just my opinion!). Post your comments below and I'll post the final list when I'm through!

I LOVE BIRTHDAYS! This is the first year, though, that I feel that my birthday is just another day. I usually have that surreal, Christmas morning feeling about my birthday. Ah well. I got lots of fun stuff, though (besides the new bed!)

SpongeBob SquarePants Pinata (sans candy)
BOOTY!
Plus some new sheets for the bed, a pedicure, and two kayak trips before the end of the month!

I also ended up going out last night and getting a little drunk. It felt damn good. I think I actually forgot what it felt like. All in all, a great birthday. I'll let you know how 24 turns out.

Oh, and for some reason, this tickles me to no end. Am I the only one who had a childhood crush on this guy?

The Bed.

Argh. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. All things being equal, I'd rather lay my eggs, frankly.

Did you know that there is a theory somewhere that the reason women get so cranky around menstruation is that, subliminally, we are just pissed off that our egg is again going unfertilized - we're mourning the loss of our dead egg. Personally, I think it's the gut-wrenching cramps and the wad of cotton we have to insert every month.

Another thought: Most women have about a 2 week window in which our hormones are relatively stable. That means, we are our hormone-free selves for only about half our lives - and if you have a couple of kids, it's even less. Jeepers. And I don't even want kids.

I apologize to any male readers in the cyber-audience. It's just one of those days. Also, it's my birthday tomorrow, so you all better remember. Just a suggestion.

The Bed Saga is over (ever notice how my 'sagas' usually only last 2 posts?). After taking apart my bed for the second time, I managed to irk my father enough to help me get it set up. After a trip to Kents, lots of swearing, and the full use of an engineering certificate, we finally got the damn thing up. I took a picture of it for all to see. Really, it's not that amazing, after all that, but it is a birthday gift, so I'll pretend to love it, for a little while.

Right now, I'm mid-cleaning. The new bed now takes up a lot of room, so I have to move some furniture around a bit. Though I never, EVER, do it, I enjoy the cleaning process for it's purging qualities. I tend to keep a lot of useless crap around, so it's nice just to sever the ties and get them out my space. I tend to be emotionally attached to inatimate objects.

Hope you had a good father's day.

I accidentally left Messenger on when I left work last night. All I have to say is, some of you guys get kinda weird when you're lonely.

In other news, the new bed is up and running! I'll take a picture of it on the weekend for you to see. Usually, a new bed probably wouldn't be that interesting, but this bed is just... silly. It's as high as my waist, and I have to take a flying leap to get on it. It makes bedtime an adventure (as it should be, really). The headboard and posts are not up yet (when I bought it, it needed to fulfill two requirements 1) Must be made of metal and 2) must have bars in which to tie ... things....) but they will be as soon as I figure out how they screw in.

As I'm sure you're all wildly concerned - I'll make sure no episode in the New Bed Saga goes unpublished.

First off - The Payroll Gods did indeed smile upon me! And not in error! I just called the payroll department and apparently it's all good. Something about being on a delay when I was part time, or something. I didn't understand a thing she said, but the bottom line is that the extra money is indeed my money, so woopee!

Hope you liked the Bud pictures. I took an idea from Sarah and made it into a collage. I really just didn't have time to upload each picture individually. But, isn't he FANTASTIC? Ever since Sarah has been living here, I've started to think I'm a cat person. After this weekend, though, I rediscovered by love of dogs. I usually don't like big dogs (and believe me, being a Great Dane/Retreiver Mix, Bud is indeed a BIG DOG) but he was just so loyal, and grateful. I like cats and dogs for opposing reasons - cats, because they are independent, intelligent and easy to take care of and dogs, because they are so dependent, and dumb, and rely on humans so much. Anyway, it is now safe to safe that I indeed go both ways.

Oh, one more thing, if any of you are like me and saw the Matrix:Reloaded, but found it a bit muddled, here is a transcript of the scene with the Architect with Neo. Ugh, I just realized Neo=One. Fuck, I'm mental. Just the other day I figured out why "Legally Blond" is a play on words. Jeepers.
